Dream Catcher

My evening routine includes a mixture of reducing stresses, taking time for myself and doing something that I enjoy. Compared to other peoples it may be rather simple, yet it works for me. Want to get the most out of your evenings? Take a look below at a few ideas which you can try:

Get those chores out of the way!

We all have a list of those pesky chores which need to be done, sometimes leaving them to the end of the evening can feel like a great idea. However getting chores done early in the evening will not only make you feel less rushed and stressed before you turn in for bed, but you will feel like you have had more time for you. By all means I’m not saying do all of the house work in one evening, however simple tricks such as doing the washing up as you cook and putting things away straight away can really make a difference.

Beauty regime

Whether it is quick and simple or something a little more pampering you really should have one. It’s important to look after your self, not only so you look great but to compliment your personal self confidence and self esteem! Top tip: have a pamper relaxing evening every once in while, personally I love to whip out a face mask and paint my nails!

Simple supplements

Above best efforts some people may still find it hard to relax in the evenings, many of these people find that taking non prescription herbal supplements or vitamins can have great effects on their ability to relax. Some of the most common relaxing herbs and vitamins include Valerian root, Magnesium, Potassium and B vitamins (it is advised to take B vitamins in the morning as they can often give you an energy boost!). Before adding any of these to your diet it is important to discuss them with your health care provider to ensure they are suitable and won’t affect any other medication you are taking.

Do something you enjoy

Make sure you spend time doing something you enjoy. From something crafty to getting involved in a sport, it is important to have downtime. Stuck with what to do? Here are a few activities, some fun and engaging others more relaxing: knitting, playing on a games console, reading, watching a film, listening to music, colouring, painting, yoga, playing an instrument or spending time with friends and family.

Stop procrastinating

There is a simple saying which goes ‘there is no like the present’ and that saying is completely true. If you want to do something, then do it! Spending your evenings procrastinating about those pesky chores and wondering how to get more from life will just waste more of that valuable time, start taking control of your time and start living today.
