November’s Birchbox

Now the evenings are drawing darker, I find myself needing an extra pick me up each month. Having my Birchbox arrive with a few unknown surprises inside has really helped with my winter blues.

The more familiar I am becoming with Birchbox, the more I am learning about their online presence and what I should be looking out for. Each month just before dispatching the months Birchbox they put a few teasers on their website and social media, these let the world know one of the items all their customers will receive. Looking through their content some more also revealed handy how too guides which gave more information on how to use each product, for a beauty newbie like me these are pretty handy.

Benefit Hoola Bronzer

The Benefit Hoola Bronzer is the product which was in everyone’s Novembers Birchbox and also the product I was least excited about. As much as Benefits Hoola Bronzer is extremely popular and highly recommended by bloggers and magazines,  personally I had never used a bronzer before and was a bit scepticalif it would suit me at all.

The Bronzer trial came in a small purple presentable plastic case, perfect for a handbag or travel bag. The bronzer itself first seemed a bit darker than something I would normally use, however after giving it a few tries I soon found it a lovely product to use. I found the bronzer gave me a healthy glow and lasted well all day,  Something that really appealed to me was the fact that it was matt. I’m extremely prone to oily skin, so anything which helps to keep a matt complexion is a winner in my eyes. I think it’s safe to say Hoola has now changed my mind about using bronzer.

James Read Overnight Tan Sleep Mask Tan Face

If i’m be truly honest this isn’t a product I have tried, however plan to give it a go next spring or summer. Unlike many I enjoy my pale natural winter complexion, and make the most of it during the winter months. For now my James Read Tan Sleep Mask is waiting in my cosmetic bag ready to give me a bit of colour during the summer.

Percy & Reed Smoothed Sealed & Sensational Volumising No Oil, Oil

There is something amusing about Percy & Reed’s Smoothed Sealed & Sensational Volumising No Oil, Oil, I mean how can it be an oil with out oil? Percy & Reed’s website state that this is a product perfect for those with thin hair, the product itself is supposed to add volume while also repairing and nourishing hair.

Ever since being young I have always had very thin hair and tried many products which claim to give volume and fuller looking locks.  The voluminsing oil seemed to tame my frizz making my hair much more sleek while also giving my hair extra volume! The only downfall is that I find after working it in to my hair, my hands can feel rather dry (it is lucky there was a handy cream in this months Birchbox).

Clarins Hand & Nail Treatment Cream

Being winter the Clarins Hand and Nail Treatment Cream has been a really handy product. I’m not sure if it is the cold weather or the heating, but during the winter months my hands really receive a beating.  Being small in size I decided to put the hand cream in to my bag so I could use it after washing my hands at work and out and about. The product itself has a lovely light sent and smooth consistency which absorbs quickly without feeling sticky or greasy. The Clarins Hand & Nail Treatment and Cream definitely made my hands feel much softer and less dry, it will be a shame once it has ran out!

Birchbox Brush Cleaner

This month all customers also received a Birchbox brush cleaner, this has been a really handy product and makes cleaning my brushes much quicker. The cleaner itself is compact in size and easy to clean (I mean you don’t want a dirty item to clean you make up brushes). The first brush I tried to clean was my stubborn foundation brush, with a mixture of Johnsons Baby shampoo and the Birchbox brush cleaner my brush was as good as new in just a few minutes.
