September’s Birchbox

Birchbox october

A little bit late to the running, but last month I decided to give the beauty subscription Birchbox a go. For £10 +£2.95 postage Birchbox sends you a tastefully designed box containing 5 samples of beauty treats straight to your door every month. So as much as I wanted to write this post, I wanted to give each of the products a good testing.

Benefit They’re Real! Double The Lip

Out of everything in my September Birchbox this was my absolute favourite. I love the colour the scent, the fact it has an inbuilt lip liner and that it lasts all day! I just wish I could have one of each colour in my make up bag – looking at the prices I might need to start saving.

Manna Kadar Cosmetics Fantasy 3-in-1 Eyeshadow

This was the product which twisted my arm to purchase my first Birchbox, I was running low on my typical blusher/ highlighter and decided trying a new one could be a good idea. The Manna Kadar Cosmetics Fantasy 3 in 1 eye shadow boasts that it can be used not only as a blusher but as an eye shadow and highlighter. For me it works best as blusher and eye shadow giving me a perfect glow all day long.

Polaar Icy Magic Instant Eye Contour Energiser Roll-on

I have been using Polaar Icy Magic Instant Eye Contour Energiser Roll on morning and night and have found it helps to make my eyes feel a bit more alive and reduce my dark circles. I found the best time to use this item for me is just before applying my morning make up, I make sure I apply plenty to both my upper eye lid and under my eyes.

Sand & Sky Brilliant Skin™ Purifying Pink Clay Mask

This mask smells super pretty and makes for a perfect relaxing pamper evening. The clay is light and unlike other face masks didn’t cause my  sensitive skin to burn or become slightly irritated. The only downfall with this item was that it didn’t really have much of an impact on my oily skin and current spot outbreak from a stress episode.

Dr. PawPaw Original Clear Balm – Yellow

This was the one product I was a bit sceptical of, there is no definitive use for PawPaw allowing it to be used as a handbag all rounder. Unlike most of my other lip balms and moisturisers PawPaw lacks any scent but does have the added advantage of a lovely non greasy texture. Firstly I kept the tube in my handbag and used it as a lip balm, before long I was finding myself using it not only on my lips but on my dried cuticles and hands – it’s amazing how such a small amount can go a long way.

So far Birchbox is great for me, as I don’t have the time to explore and try new make up and beauty products each month. So far from my short experience of Birchbox is that by having a beauty subscription I get to try a number of products that I wouldn’t normally get the time or chance to even think about.
